FEATURED ARTISTS:
Ehrick Wright
A few words from the artist:
Ehrick’s love of nature and life-long fascination with light, shadow and flowing lines are evident in all his artwork, which includes paintings, drawings, pastels and wood sculptures. His work ranges from photographically realistic mountainscapes to quasi-abstract drawings of people, rocks and trees, to painted sculptures of found wood.
The paintings currently displayed in the Eisenhower Medical Center are his mountainscapes — most depicting areas in the high Sierra, where he has hiked and backpacked extensively for the past 25 years. His paintings attempt to capture the vivid colors, bold contrasts and atmospheric clarity found uniquely in high altitudes, with particular emphasis on the unique patterns and shadows created by snow, rock, water and sky.
One of Ehrick’s signature styles is the use of metallic paint in areas hit by sunlight. “The reflective nature of metallic paints helps to emphasize the bold contrast of dark and light — making these areas ‘pop’as they do in reality. Metallic paints also vary widely in different lighting, so a painting viewed at midday can look completely different at dusk.”
Alex Amato
A few words from the artist:
Alexander Amato, born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1969, embarked on a journey of self-expression from a young age. Raised in Syracuse, New York, and later Las Vegas, Nevada, he discovered his passion for translating emotions and perspectives into art through pastels and paint.
At 21, he relocated to Los Angeles, California, where he honed his craft and established himself in the art world, selling numerous pieces over the years. In 2017, Alexander found solace and inspiration on a ranch in the tranquil outskirts of Palm Springs, California. His home doubled as his studio, where he welcomes art enthusiasts to experience his creations.
Influenced by the elegance of mid-century modern architecture, Alex embarked on his latest series, crafting large abstract paintings in acrylic and mixed media on wood. Inviting viewers to embark on a captivating journey through his artistry, this collection, infused with vibrant colors and intricate textures, reflects the essence of Palm Springs' modernist aesthetic while offering a fresh, contemporary perspective.
GARY PATERSON
Gary builds his canvases the way walls are built - block upon cinder block, covering the painting’s surface. Color control is important - many pieces need thirty unique colors, much as he tries for simplicity.
AARON HANSEN
GEORGEANNE PAPAC
Georganne loves doing abstract, collage and assemblage pieces. Painting is all about expression of freedom and emotion.
